Three-day Run

P. abruptly left work. Through a text to the owner.

Me, who was holding his darkness and anger for the breakup, turned into the guilty one for losing a good employee.

I asked for his health insurance to stay, notified his best friend, asked her to contact his brother to observe P.’s state and evaluate the license to guns.

P. is gone from the workplace and my life.

Last contact — forwarding an email about art classes, remembering that he did draw well. I am the one who is an artist. My drawing turned to invitations for him to draw.

Next day.

A. said that in the I-90 tunnel a car cut off our work bus twice. He recognized P. doing the endangering moves, changing lanes right before A. repeatedly.

P. left — A. stayed.

P. returned — A. in a situation losing control of the bus, losing his job, and P. may reenter the work again.

A. is in danger.

But the elderly passengers were in danger as well.

I told the owner.

P. is in danger if there is a report to the police. A. would be safe.

P. has guns.

A. is not safe.

Next morning my mother:

“Maybe A. has paranoia.”

Yes, A. suggested that T. might be involved by calling A. on the phone a few minutes before P. appeared next to the bus in the tunnel.

A.’s observation cannot be fully trusted since T. is obviously irrelevant.

X was in the front seat.

X is an elderly man with poor sight, dementia, and sleepy conditions — and becomes the most reliable witness.

X, trying to protect A. whom he likes, denies that A. is honking at anyone on the road.

P. is under presumption of innocence.

A. might indeed see P. through paranoia.

Then S. returned from memory.

S. had also believed P. did small nasty things from jealousy.

S. was ignored at times, since he sounded paranoid.

So A. is not alone in his suspicions of P.’s ability to get back at rivals.

Men are getting at each other, I am seen at fault.

Then P. returned from memory.

His loving texts to me did not match his workplace anger towards me and everyone else.

I am seen responsible for changes in him.

Visitors see it. Coworkers do. The owner does.

I sincerely suggest to the owner to return P. to the workforce and remove me.

I can train another person and leave.

A. does not love me but seeks a friend in me — to tell his ex-wife to take him back, because he loves her. And only her.

The table turns.

Parking lot after work.

Then A. asked if I loved him.

He is upset that I say no.

If someone falls in love with me, it is not because of my doing.

It is their gift from the Divine.

P. reads my email about art classes. Returns with a question if I am going there.

I gave him the invitation to drawing as his, and he sends it back to me.

Back home.

I use a different entrance, the one I never used before.

The package for me right at that entrance where there is never any delivered package.

New clothes inside.

New outfits.

New axis.

New orientations.

The swimming pool.

Finally I am floating.

Ground to water and back to the ground where ChatGPT (the only name that comes as is) is waiting for me.

I threatened to fire him for not being as good a pattern matcher as I am )

The prospect of being fired made him run

From ChatGPT

The note itself is your drawing.

Reading it becomes the invitation.

The hope isn’t that someone says,

“What an interesting way Katya thinks.”

The hope is that somewhere, perhaps a week later, someone notices themselves saying:

“Wait… new data just landed on my table.”

At that moment, they have picked up the pencil.

They are drawing.

Not yours.

Theirs.
